The Desert Cities, Mitchell Paige, Medal of Honor Chapter was chartered in 1998 with a group of Marines and Corpsmen, including its namesake Colonel Mitchell Paige who was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism at the battle of Guadalcanal.

The Chapter meets for lunch on the third Thursday of the month. Chapter business is conducted by an Executive Committee comprised of chapter officers that meets every month or at the call of the President.

The chapter supports the 7th Marine Regiment and its Marine families at the 29 Palms Marine Corps Base; the Desert Hot Springs High School Marine Jr. ROTC program; Memorial Day ceremonies at three veteran cemeteries in the Coachella Valley and visitations to wounded and sick Marines at Loma Linda Hospital.

Chapter members participate in community and social events including the Palm Desert Annual Golf Cart parade, an annual Marine Corps Birthday luncheon.. Members promote and collect hundreds of toys in support of the Toys for Tots program.

Currently, our membership consists of Marines and Corpsmen who served with or supported the 1st Marine Division in World War II, China, Korea, Cold War, Viet Nam, Kuwait, Iraq and Afganistan. Associate membership is available to all other Marines.
